One of the reasons I make jewelry (or write songs, for that matter) is because I trust in the healing power of art. And this has never been more important than during times of stress and hardship.
Blaise Pascal, a 17th-century mathematician/philosopher, wisely wrote:
“In difficult times carry something beautiful in your heart.”
It may be a memory, or a song, or a visual image. But find something beautiful to call up from the treasure stores of your heart.
And if, like me, you sometimes take a photograph that is good for your soul, consider posting it on Instagram or Facebook as an act of nourishment for those of us who sometimes feel starved for beauty, for goodness, or for hope.
The world places great burdens on us which we have no choice but to carry. So don’t forget to also pack a little beauty in your heart. It weighs nothing, and lightens the load.
